The most sporty-grade model, 7th generation Celica was tested. Though engine was reduced from 2.0 l to 1.8 l in displacement capacity, it generates 190 ps/7,600 rpm and 18.4 kgm/6,800 rpm. Among Toyota’s engines, high power in high revolution range was exceptionally designed. Though front engine/front drive (FF) type drivetrain was conventionally designed, understeer characteristics in abruptly accelerating in tight cornering was alleviated. High-speed running stability, passing accelerating performance, and low -fuel consumption of the GT car provided us with enjoyable long trip.
